Rodington Drive

On Sunday 8th September 2019 six turnouts met at at Ian Griffith’s farm next to The Bulls Head for the
Rodington drive. We were blessed with a nice sunny day but not too hot for the equines. Each
turnout set off at intervals for the twelve mile drive. Felicity and Avril with Amber were first to leave
as they had to leave for home early. Bryony and Mike with Red, Ted and Tony with Sally and Pauline
Traill and Frank with Kudos soon followed. Last of the single turnouts to go was Edith and Tanya
with Tally . Russell Hand was expected but had not arrived by the time everyone else had gone.
However, in spite of having a battery problem with his large horse box he and Pat still made it at the
last minute. Their grooms quickly put Russell’s smart coloured team of Texas and Scout in the lead
and Luke and Custer in the wheel together and they were able to do the drive. Five of the turnouts
stopped at the pub in Upton Magna for a half way break and a drink. Back at Rodington after seeing
to the horses most people enjoyed sitting outside at The Bulls Head for a chat over drink or a meal
before leaving for home.
