Jayroc Visit and Area Lunch.

On January 27th 2019 Russell and Pat Hand and their family and staff made us most welcome at Jayroc Stables to admire their impressive collection of carriages, horses and harness. It was a cold and windy day but all the visitors were kept happy with a continuous supply of tea and coffee for which we were very grateful.

There was certainly plenty to see, from the immaculate harness room to the ‘Dutch barn’ housing the foals and youngsters. The horses around the stable yard enjoyed plenty of attention from the visitors too.

The collection of carriages and display of horse-related memorabilia was fascinating, with many different types of vehicle, some of which we are accustomed to seeing at shows and drives – working carriages, not museum pieces.

After the visit we went to the Fox and Hounds, Shawbury, where 63 of us sat down to an excellent lunch and catch-up with friends – the noise level testified to the amount of catching-up going on but Tony was remarkably adept at calling for silence!

Tokens of appreciation were presented to Russell, Pat and their staff by Mandy Hughes and Russell and his little granddaughter brought round Jayroc rosettes to everyone as a memento of an excellent day.

Many thanks to Russell, Pat, their family and staff for arranging the day and making us all so welcome.
