Cherrington drive 30th May 2021

Many thanks to Avril and Felicity who planned an excellent route from Cherrington. The scenery was stunning, the weather superb and there were some challenging byways for the team of Russell and Pat Hand who were 40th wedding anniversary in style on the day. All taken with aplomb! We feared there was not going to be a pub en route, but suddenly – there was the Sutherland Arms! Everyone enjoyed the day and appreciate Avril hosting us again.

Thanks also to Graham Taylor for some information about points of interest on the route – he was pleased to identify the miscanthus which is also known as “Elephant Grass” and grown for bio-mass energy boilers, and also the Iron Age hill fort at Kynnersley on the Weald Moors, which educated him as he knew of Kynnersley and Preston on the Weald Moors but didn’t realise the correct title for Kynnersley was also Kynnersley on the Weald Moors. Every day’s a school day!
