Easter Bonnets Parade 2019

Six turnouts assembled at Aldeford Lake on a record-breaking warm and sunny Easter Monday  before driving into Whitchurch to parade in front of Tesco with decorated carriages and Easter bonnets. We were welcomed by the Mayor of Whitchurch and the manager and staff of Tesco, as well as many members of the public who were enjoying the beautiful weather and taking the opportunity to meet the horses at close quarters. Everyone was presented with an Easter egg courtesy of Tesco and a commemorative rosette. The North Shropshire Cup for the best turnout was awarded to Sue Cole and Sam the Man with groom Frank Bullock.

Easter bonnets were swapped for hard hats and we then drove a total of 8.5 miles along the quiet country lanes back to Aldeford Lake.

The turnouts taking part were as follows:-

Sue Cole and Frank Bullock with Sam the Man

Jennifer Marren and Helen James with Corky

Felicity Stubbs and Avril Pluck with Valentines Amber

Alison Mason and Wendy Ross with Smurf

Russell and Pat Hand with Whiskey and Nugget

Carol Doody and Natalie Toft with Orrey and Chancer

Younger members of the Hand and Millward families joined in the parade with their bonnets once we reached Whitchurch.

Many thanks to Helen James for organising the day, Philip Holder, Sue Anderson and Chris and Brenda Millward for lead/backup cars and road junction crossings, Ian Cole for photography, the management and staff of Tesco for presentation of Easter eggs, turnout judging and allowing us the use of their car park, and Aldeford Lake for allowing us to use their venue for parking.
