Easter Bonnets Parade

A wet and snowy start to Easter Monday did not deter the brave souls who had put a lot of effort into decorating their bonnets, horses and carriages. Jennifer Marren, Kathy Buckland and Corky, Felicity Stubbs, Avril Pluck and Amber, and Sue and Ian Cole with Sam the Man set off from Alderford Lake for the short drive into Whitchurch, by which time the rain had fortunately stopped. We were joined by Wendy Green with Twiglet and Chris and Brenda’s granddaughter Bella Millward for the parade in front of Tesco where rosettes and Easter eggs were presented by the Mayor and Mayoress of Whitchurch, Mr and Mrs Tony Neville.

Overall award for the best turnout went to Jennifer, Kathy and Bella, with Bella also having the best junior bonnet. Sue Cole won best adult bonnet (we think!)

A pleasant drive through the lanes (some of which were flooded) brought us back to Alderford Lake, after which we went to the Raven for a welcome lunch and hot drinks.
