THE CITADEL DRIVE

 21st  AUGUST 2022

Having left home in sunshine it was a bit disappointing to arrive at The Citadel to find a gloomy sky which later brought a couple of heavy showers whilst six turnouts enjoyed the 12 mile drive along the lanes round Hawkstone and Marchamely.    The drive was organized by Bryony and held with the kind permission of Mr and Mrs B Griffiths to whom a donation for the Severn Hospice was made.    Those taking part were Mike, Philip, Connie and Clive with Red, Felicity and Avril with Georgie, Andy and Sue with Paddy, Jennifer and Helen with Corky, Russell, Pat and several young ladies with Texas, Eldo, Cheko and Hippo and Ted, Graham and Imran with Sally.

About halfway through the drive we were met with 40 tractors on the Tern Valley tractor run.    Three turnouts managed to avoid them by quickly turning down a lane on the route before they came too close, one had the misfortune to meet them all and two managed to avoid them due to overshooting an earlier turning.    Two then came across them again on the return to The Citadel this time face to face whilst one managed to avoid them completely.

By the time of our return the weather had improved and we were all able to sit down and enjoy our picnics in the sunshine.

Many thanks to Bryony for organising the drive and Mr and Mrs Griffiths for their continued support.
