2025 Easter Bonnets Drive
BDS Shropshire Easter Bonnets Drive
Seven turnouts met up at Rodington on Easter Monday for our traditional Easter Bonnets drive. It was a grey morning but we managed to stay dry and by lunchtime the sun had come out. Before the drive Graham Taylor judged the turnouts which, in addition to bonnets, included an Easter chick, a decorated carriage and an extremely cute dog/bunny hybrid, with the Easter egg prize being awarded to Sue.
Our routes of either six or twelve miles, with a pub stop for those following the longer route, took us through the pleasant Shropshire countryside with signs of spring all around us. Afterwards we enjoyed the usual picnic lunch with an opportunity to catch up with friends on this first drive of the season. Everyone received a rosette and an Easter egg as well as a slice of Colin the Caterpillar kindly provided by Helen so that we could all wish Jennifer a Happy Birthday.
Those taking part were Felicity and Avril with Georgie, Philip the Easter chick and Ellie and bunnydog with a pair of greys, Jennifer and Helen with Corky and Sue, Ian and Bev with Sam the Man. Jayroc Stables fielded three turnouts. Russell, Pat, Nicola and dogs Hooper and Cooper drove Attitude and Jethro, Dani Bedwell with Ella and Kay drove Little Black and Abi Hutchinson drove ponies Whiskey and Casper with Jamie as groom. This was a big occasion for Dani as it was the first time both Dani and her horse had driven at an event!
Many thanks to everyone who made the drive possible and to Ian and Graham for photography.
